Shots Given privacy policy

The short version

Shots Given has no accounts, no ads, and no tracking. Your matches and scores stay on your phone.

Scores and matches

Matches, scores, side names and handicaps are stored only on your phone. They are never uploaded. Deleting a match, or the app, removes them.

Sharing a course (opt-in)

After you add a course, you can choose to share it with other players. Nothing is sent unless you turn sharing on and tap Send. A shared course contains the club name, tee names, pars, indexes, distances, slope and rating.

If you also turn on "Include the scorecard photo", the photo is sent too. Location and other EXIF metadata are removed on your phone before it is sent. Photos are used only to check the course details, and are deleted after review, or within 30 days at the latest.

Shared courses are checked by a person before they are published to other players.

Reporting a course

If you report a shared course, the app sends the course ID, the reason you picked and any note you type. Nothing else.

Install ID

When you share or report a course, the app sends a random install ID made on your phone. It is used only for rate limiting, to stop abuse. It is not linked to your name, email, device identifiers or anything else about you.

Server logs

Our server does not log IP addresses.

Camera

The camera is used only to photograph a printed scorecard so its pars and indexes can be read on your phone. Photos stay on your phone unless you choose to include one when sharing a course.
